Lounge Chair by Polak

This iconic and rare lounge chair is a remarkable example of modernist Dutch furniture design from the 1950s. The chair is attributed to Hein Salomonson a Dutch designer from the Gerrit Rietveld era. It was manufactured by AP Originals, Abraham Polak Meubelindustrie and sold at the time by Metz & Co in Amsterdam. The chair has a cognac leather sling seat and a brushed steel frame. The headrest pillow is reupholstered with a white wool. The chair is in beautiful original condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. Abraham Polak's furniture business was founded in 1955. The strength of the company was that from the start he attracted a number of great designers such as Hein Salomonson, Pierre Paulin, Herbert Hirche, Jacques Hitier and Martin Visser.
