Olivier Mourgue pair of yellow Djinn chairs

Great pair of Djinn lounge chairs designed by Olivier Mourgue for Airborne, France 1965.
The Djinn chair became a Spage Age design icon from the moment Stanley Kubrick introduced the chair in his movie '2001: A Space Odyssey', where the chairs were featured in the interior of a futuristic Hilton hotel. This pair of chairs is fully renovated and covered with new foam and upholstered with a warm yellow fabric made of 100% wool. A color of yellow that was also used by the French manufacturer Airborne for the original series. (see picture). Matching settee available in the same color. In 1968, the Djinn series was rewarded with the 1st International Design Award from the Institute of Interiors Designers.

Condition: Excellent. The original fabric of this pair of chairs was worn. Today it is not possible to find a jersey that is suitable for the sustainable reupholstery of furniture. We chose a wool (>90.000 Martindale) with hand stitched finishing and no zippers.
