Marco Zanuso pair of Lady lounge chairs for Arflex, Italy 1951

Sophisticated pair of fully restored, early production Lady lounge chairs designed by Marco Zanuso for Arflex, Italy 1951. The chairs have been reupholstered in beautiful purple-grey/prune mohair velvet including completely new Pirelli rubber webbing as per the original specification.
These Lady chairs are early examples from the first few years of production. They have handmade wooden frames which is a premium on the collector market. In later editions of the chair, the wood frame has been replaced by a welded steel frame. At the time since this was cheaper to produce. Pictures of the reupholstery and wooden frames are available on request.

The Lady chair was rewarded with the gold medal at the 1951 IX Triennale international design exhibition in Milan.
