Vittorio Nobili Medea dining chairs, Italy 1955

A rare edition of Medea dining chairs, designed by Vittorio Nobili for Fratelli Tagliabue, Italy 1955. The Medea chair was rewarded with the Industrial Design Award Compasso d’Oro in 1955. The chair features a plywood shell seat and a metal base with four visible brass screws on top. The Medea chair was executed in several different colors and sorts of plywood. Unlike most Medea chairs which have plastic socket feet, these chairs have rare brass feet. The color of the chairs, a beautifully warm patinated beech plywood, is also less common. Most of the chairs are executed ash, teak or rosewood veneer. The original lacquer on the plywood shells is in good original condition with wear consistent with age and use. Additional pictures of the shell of each chair are available on request.
