Arne Jacobsen Swan chair early edition for Fritz Hansen, Denmark 1975

Gorgeous early edition Swan chair designed by Arne Jacobsen for Fritz Hansen, Denmark, 1967. This chair, Model 3320, better known as Swan is professionally reupholstered with the quality of leather which was used in the 1960s. Our upholsterer, a professional who specializes in skillful original reupholstery of Danish Mid-Century Modern furniture, upholstered the chair in the traditional way, using new foam and cotton-wool (provided by Fritz Hansen) to restore the inside of the chair. The back is entirely stitched by hand. The raw leather that was used for the upholstery has has been waxed to create a patine and to protect it. The leather shows natural irregularities. The procedure of waxing gave the chair a gorgeous patine and will become even more beautiful by time. The chair has a cleaned and polished four-star swivel base, moulded in one piece, and is adjustable in height. It is marked with manufacturers label and dated 75 05. A true design icon from an early edition in excellent sustainable condition.

Arne Jacobsen designed the Swan for the lobby and lounge areas at the SAS Royal Hotel in Copenhagen in 1958. Back then, the Swan was a technologically innovative chair with no straight lines, only curves.
