Alvar Aalto Floor Light A809 Early Production by Valaisinpaja Oy, Finland, 1959

Iconic floor lamp Model A809 designed by Alvar Aalto in 1959, early production by Valaisinpaja Oy. The light features three hand-riveted shades, each formed from delicate, lacquered metal strips. Together they present a striking combination of lines and curves and allow for an interesting interplay of direct and indirect up- or downwards light. The stand is finished in hand-sewn black leather, while the neck has a polished brass collar. Marked with manufacturers label on the inside of the shade. The light is in excellent condition with some minor wear on the leather cover of the foot, wiring checked.

Floor Light A809 was created for the living room of the house near Paris designed by Alvar Aalto for French gallerist and collector Louis Carré in 1959.
