Berlin daybed by Bruno Mathsson, Sweden 1972

A rare birchwood Berlin daybed designed by Bruno Mathsson, Sweden 1957. This iconic Scandinavian daybed is known as the Berlin daybed, since it was first shown in 1957 at the International Building Exhibition in Berlin.
This is for the sleeker model, with a thin mattress on top of the bed. The bed frame is slightly elevated at the headboard and features skillfully bent tapered legs. The daybed still has the very nice original and well kept beige woolen upholstery which has been professionally cleaned. The interior of the mattress has been renewed. The mattress also preserved the very nice and originally added knotted buttons. If desired we can also provide a second, newly upholstered mattress in boucle for example. (see pictures of a piece we formerly sold).
The laminated birch wooden frame is in very good condition. It has the original finish and is double signed with branded signature, Firma Karl Mathsson 1972. The Berlin daybed is longer in production.
