Hans Wegner CH-28 Sawbuck chair 1951

Arm/ easy chair model CH-28 Sawbuck chair designed by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen, Denmark 1951. Early chair with a solid oak frame, teak veneered backrest and leather upholstered seat. Unlike most leather upholstered examples of the Sawbuck chair, this chair features an originally teak wooden backrest. (not formerly upholstered with padded leather).
Characteristic for all Wegner designs, the chair features clean lines and an edgy shape, resulting in an archetypical early Wegner design; sculptural, functional and exceptionally comfortable. The CH-28 displays Wegners remarkable sense of form and his experimental nature. A Classic Danish modern icon.
The condition of the chair is very good with minor traces of wear from use and age but with a visible though professionally executed restoration on one of the legs. The original green fabric-upholstered seat has been reupholstered with a cognac aniline leather.
