Ico and Luisa Parisi Taormina Credenza for MIM Roma, Italy 1958

Superb and very rare Taormina credenza designed by Ico and Luisa Parisi and produced by MIM Roma, Italy 1958. The credenza is entirely finished in rosewood including the interior and rear face. It has an internal storage compartment with single shelf.
Ico Parisi signature on the original MIM metal manufacturer’s plaque on the back.

A beautiful feature of the Taormina design are the slim sculptural form bent wood legs which add an organic fluency to the form. Each leg is finished at its base with a chrome plated, decorative element containing a cast aluminium foot which adjusts to take up uneven floors.

The credenza is illustrated in the February 1959 issue of Domus design magazine. In excellent condition. Literature: – Domus, February 1959 – Il Mobile Italiano Degli Anni 40 e 50, Fig 33, page 226 Exhibitions: – Ico and Luisa Parisi exhibition catalog, page 43, fig 40. Gerhard Westermeier and Markus Winter, Berlin ( 12 Dec 2008 -24 Jan 2009).
