Marcel Breuer Wassily chairs for Knoll, Italy 1980

A pair of grey leather Wassily chairs, designed in 1925 by Marcel Breuer and manufactured by Knoll ca.1980.
Inspired by the frame of a bicycle and influenced by the constructivist theories of the De Stijl movement, Marcel Breuer was still an apprentice at the Bauhaus when he reduced the classic club chair to its elemental lines and planes, forever changing the course of furniture design.
The Wassily chair is a widely recognized masterpiece of modern furniture, having long ago achieved iconic status.

This pair of Wassily chairs date to ca.1980s. The chairs are of the high quality that marks authentic Knoll production; heavy and sturdy chair frames and thick leather straps. The chairs are no longer available in this warm grey color of leather. The chairs are signed with designers signature and Knoll logo on the base of the frame. The chairs are in good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. The chromed steel frames are in very good condition, seatings and straps show scratches.
