Radboud van Beekum cubic chairs FM62 for Pastoe, The Netherlands ca. 1982

Set of two cube lounge chairs designed by Radboud Van Beekum for Pastoe, The Netherlands, 1980s. This highly comfortable pair of armchairs has a strong, graphical character. Following in the tradition of the De Stijl movement, the FM60 series is inspired by the designs of Gerrit Rietveld.

The well made metal frame is finished in black lacquer, the original thick upholstery in black saddle leather with stitches is in sturdy used condition and shows a great patina.
This chair was introduced in 1980 during the Triennale in Poznan in Poland.

The cube chair was intended to be a progression of Rietveld’s seminal red and blue chair – FM62 is the leather edition. Other editions came in canvas FM60 and plywood FM61.
