About us

Visavu Design was established in 2011 by graphic designer and art collector Judith Hopstaken. Since then Visavu Design specializes in sourcing and selling 20th century design classics.
The design gallery focuses on three departments:
• Midcentury Modern Scandinavian furniture and lighting from 1940 to 1975.
• Italian furniture and lighting from 1950 to 1985.
• Dutch design furniture and lighting from 1940 to 1985
We work closely with collectors, interior designers and architects to source and propose objects for interiors projects. Our restorers and upholsters are craftsmen who have long experience with important and collectible furniture.

In 2023 the new and revised Gallery Visavu was launched. Judith graduated in arts and collecting art has been her passion ever since. Her aim is to continue proposing a cutting-edge selection of modern design furniture and lighting as well as a unique collection of contemporary art that she personally selects.

With the exhibitions of contemporary art and her collection of exquisite modern design, we hope to offer our clients inspiration to select and create inventive and unique homes in which art forms a great and important part of the ambiance.

The scenic historical fortification of Woudrichem is part of the famous Dutch “Nieuwe Hollandse Waterlinie”  which has been recently submitted to Unesco World Inheritance. The building in which our gallery is based dates from 1854 and formed part of this unique military fortification.

Visavu Art & Design gallery is opened on Fridays from  14.00h-17.00h, on Saturdays from 14.00h-17.00h and 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month from 14.00h-18.00h and by appointment.
