Rachel Wolfson Smith (1982)
Lives and works in Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Rachel Wolfson Smith’s graphite landscapes focus on parallels between nature and women. Her drawings are held in private collections, from Google to artist Kiki Smith, and have been exhibited at The Contemporary Austin Jones Center, The Wignall Museum of Contemporary Art, and recently in the solo exhibition The Future Is Behind Us at Women & Their Work in Austin, TX. She is a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant and has been invited to participate in the 100W Corsicana Artist and Writer Residency and The Contemporary Austin’s Crit Group. Smith’s work has been featured in publications such as Designmilk, Iron & Air, Sightlines, and Glasstire. She exhibits with Ivester Contemporary in Austin, TX, and holds a BFA from MICA and an MFA from Indiana University. Inspired by living in Amsterdam with her husband and children, Smith is at work on a series of drawings and cyanotypes about nature and domestication.
