Modernist daybed by Dřevopodnik Holešov, Czech Republic, 1930-1940s. Reupholstered in high-quality linen fabric in a beautiful shade of ochre yellow, it retains its graceful curves of the bent wooden frame and exquisite detailing. Dating back to the 1930s-1940s it is representing the modernist movement in former Czechoslovakia. The mattress, filled with horsehair and intricately quilted, remains intact, while the upholstery has been refreshed. Adorned with linen fabric and hemp straps, the bed bears the marks of its origins, complete with an original label from the manufacturer. Truly a piece of early modernist design reimagined for contemporary living.
