A modernist easy chair in sheepskin by a Danish cabinetmaker, Denmark 1940s. This midcentury easy chair revolves around high-quality materials, comfort and the mastery of Danish cabinetmakers. This small armchair is the perfect illustration of Danish modern design and the work of a true cabinetmaker. The chair showcases all of these characteristics, as well as the desire to keep functionality and comfort collided. The conical shape of the legs are visually reminiscent of Arnold Madsen’s famous ‘Clam Chair’ and highlight the Danish modernist design of the chair. The warm patina on the beech wood legs creates a natural balance between the materials. The chair has been recently reupholstered in premium sheepskin, which not only elevates the beauty of the chair, but also provides a look of elegant cosiness.
Danish modernism has influenced Scandinavian furniture design to a great degree, defined by minimalism, simplicity, and functionality and make Danish mid-century furniture an ideal addition to many contemporary living spaces.
The pictures also show the impressive work of art by Dutch artists Anouk Griffioen, Udona Boerema and Warffemius and are on view in our gallery and on this website in the menu “contemporary”.
