Dutch modernist sideboard designed by Theo Arts for Goed Wonen in 1959. Made by Arts’ Furniture atelier De Kern in Rotterdam. This model number 521 is made of pine wood. Theo Arts collaborated with the Good Wonen foundation in the early fifties, and started his small furniture atelier in Rotterdam where this small sideboard was produced.
Clean minimalist lines, a graphic black and wood combination, use of pine wood, a simple hole for a handle, the sliding doors; this lovely sideboard is an iconic example of early Dutch Modernism in its ultimate form. The simple round and unusual high legs accentuate the floating minimalist appearance of the body.
The interior has four drawers on the left and on the right a shelve. The piece is in good all original condition and has a manufacturers stamp on the bottom.
