Spherical floor lamp designed by Ton A. C. Alberts, The Netherlands 1966. The Zodiac floor lamp, model D2080, was produced by Dutch avant-garde lighting company RAAK. The lamp is part of the permanent design collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and Boijmans van Beuningen museum in Rotterdam.
The design of the Zodiac lamp places the light source at low level which creates a dramatic bright sphere with a clean and Minimalist appearance. The piece features a square rosewood frame supporting the Ø 50 cm opal glass sphere. The entire structure is elevated by four sleek Minimalist brushed aluminum legs. The internal ceramic bulb holder retains the original RAAK manufacturer’s label. The lamp is in very good original condition.
